Just ordered lunch for the first time from Jakes and contrary to some of the bad reviews both my boss and I couldnt have enjoyed it more. The order taker on the phone was very friendly and the food arrived promptly and the delivery guy was also nice, so much for the bad comments on the service. As for the food I got the Brisket of Beef Sandwich with fries, the brisket was perfect, a little fatty and charred on the ends just as its supposed to be. The sauce had a nice little kick and wasnt too sweet. The fries were ok, nothing special and a little limp. My boss got the pulled pork sliders and was also very pleased with them, the size was a tad larger than the average slider. The piece of corn on the cob he got looked like a giant mutant specimen and the cornbread was moist and tasty with little kernels of corn throughout. Overall a very nice lunch and they are now on our list of places to order from.

A long time ago, a terrible Chinese restaurant, Su Su Yum Yum, and a terrible so-called "BBQ" restaurant, Jake's BBQ, occupied adjoining storefronts and shared a kitchen. The BBQ was cloyingly sweet, sticky, and overpriced. There were few food options around this area, and little competition, outside of tradition Italian-American food. However, they have since stepped up their game, changed their menu (but apparently not the BBQ chef, who apparently knew how to cook well all along?), and now have great tasting BBQ, tons of specials that pretty much are on-going, and renovated the inside so its actually clean, sunny, and not depressing to sit there and eat. They have some sort of insane lunch/dinner special, that for ~$10, you get a big and very tasty burger or BBQ sandwich, w/ fries AND onion rings, AND coleslaw, AND a cold bottle of craft beer (at least -- I don't think I am forgetting anything?!?). Good luck finishing this delicious gut bomb at any time of the day if you have any plans afterwards, other than a nap ! ! !

I read the bad reviews and I was extremely nervous but I had no choice because it was brother's birthday, this place was 100% his comfort zone, and the whole family had to abide by the princess's birthday wishes. The waitress was very nice and put up with my family's rambunctious and loudness without a problem. I order fried chicken and I was brought out a very large plate full of deep fried chicken. Delicious. The special dinner for two menu was nice, because it allowed a couple of different sides to try as well. I think this place has been trying hard to redeem itself from the past. Next year I'm forcing him to try another BBQ spot they had a YEE at.
